Sichuan Higher Institute of Cuisine, was founded in 1985 and is operated by the Chinese government. The school is part of Sichuan Tourism College with 7,000 enrolled students of which 2,500 are in the culinary training program.

In 2009 the tourism college relocated to a new campus, approx 30 KM (17 miles) southeast of city center.  The campus holds many buildings, and a sports complex.  In 2011 the college proudly opened a state-of-the-art building dedicate to culinary arts.

The institute offers over 30 specialties to train professional chefs in both Chinese and western food techniques. The program includes instruction in cuisine technique, kitchen management, cake technique, food processing technology, fresh food processing and management, western food technique, western cake technique, cuisine and nutrition, catering management and tourism service. The regular program is a three year course, with the final year being a supervised apprenticeship in commercial food establishments.
 
Regular classes at the Sichuan Institute are taught in Chinese, however our two week program was created by the foreign outreach office specifically for English speaking travelers. The classes will be conducted by master professors with an English translator present.
